Pirelli to become the exclusive tyre partner for Rally1, Rally2 and Rally3
Everyone is counting down to the start of the 2021 Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship. Behind the scenes, the promoter and the RACB are working hard. Together, they can announce a new partnership: Pirelli will be the exclusive tyre supplier for the Rally1, Rally2 and Rally3 classes for the next three seasons.
The Italian tyre manufacturer was a Junior BRC partner, will be the exclusive supplier of tyres in the Rally1, Rally2 (the famed R5's) and Rally3 classes for the next three seasons, as a partner of the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship.
“Following Pirelli’s agreement with the World Rally Championship to be their exclusive supplier starting this year, our profile in rallying is further enhanced by the news that we will become the sole supplier of the top classes in the Belgian Rally Championship. This brings us into line with the many other national rally series around the world that we exclusively equip. Belgium has a strong rally culture, enhanced by its World Rally Championship debut this year. We are delighted to strengthen our bond with this tradition, and we look forward to seeing our high-tech products in action this year on the demanding and spectacular Belgian special stages,” explains Terenzio Testoni, Pirelli Rally Activity Manager.
Xavier Schene, general manager of RACB Sport, emphasises that this exclusivity contract is a win-win, especially for the teams. "On the one hand, all participants will receive a discount on the purchase of the tyres, which will be about 10% off the catalogue price. Furthermore, the participants can win free tyres in every round of the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship. The winner of the rally will receive five free Pirelli tyres, the second will receive four tyres, the third will receive three tyres, the fourth will receive two tyres, and fifth to tenth will receive one Pirelli tyre for free. The winner of the Powerstage will receive 2000 euros, second will take 1,000 euros and 500 euros for the third," confirms Xavier Schene.
The partnership with Pirelli will also benefit the promotion of Kroon-Oil BRC.
"We are very pleased to be working with Pirelli for the next three seasons, 2021, 2022 and 2023," explains BRC Promoter Chris Courteyn, who broadcasts the Belgian Rally Championship worldwide on various channels. "Pirelli is also the exclusive tyre supplier in the World Rally Championship, so this agreement offers the advantage that the Belgian championship contenders can compete in Rally2 classes in the Ypres round of the World Championship with their trusted Pirelli tyres. With Pirelli becoming a partner of the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship reinforces the international image of our national championship, the strongest national championship in Europe and possibly worldwide. This cooperation will offer us even more possibilities in terms of promotion. "
