Doufám že to klapne!
Swedish star Thomas “Rådis” Rådström is working on plans to establish a European Rallycross Championship team together with Snowmobile racer Christian “Crille” Salemark.
Former WRC driver Rådström has put in a couple of outstanding Rallycross performances in the last few years and had planned to to compete a full 2008 ERC season in a Hyundai i30 (story 767). “I want to do the ERC but my last plans were cut off a year ago and I have been very low in this business since then,” said Rådström who recently let 18-year-old Salemark test his Hyundai Accent on ice. “He drove the car well and enjoyed the experience. He has driven in Rallycross in the Junior class, only at local level here but he was very successful,” said Rådström of Salemark.
Both men hail from Umeå in the north of Sweden although Salemark is now largely employed racing Snowmobiles in Canada and the US. “He has been racing ‘skooters’ in the states for a while, the sport is huge over there and they have a situation a bit like the WRC had a few years ago, the best riders can almost name their price. The ERC would fit perfectly for Salemark because the Snowmobile season finishes in March,” said Rådström who says the plans are in their infancy. “We are at a very early stage with this now but I know how it should be done and I am only interested in doing the job properly: we are talking about three years [2010–2012] and I will have a team that is like a miniature WRC team. It can be two cars or three, I don’t care about that, but I will only do it in a fully professional way with a car for testing and a proper programme of testing before we go racing – I would rather stay at home than do it half way.”
Rådström is seeking a budget of SEK5 million (€450,000) per season to run the proposed team.
